I don't love rom coms normally because the conflicts are always the same, the women are two dimensional and the dialogue isn't real. I like this movie for the honestly and strength of the female lead and the open communication shown between all the main characters which is rarely if ever portrayed in movies. It's not a extremely titillating or exciting movie but is nice and doesn't give me second hand embarrassment or anxiety, so that makes it a winner.

Romantic comedies are okay and this one "How Do You Know" entertains with it's all star cast and it proves love and relationships are complex, yet still in the end it leaves us asking for answers. Still it was good seeing America's sweetheart the beautiful Resse Witherspoon at work and it was nice to see my favorite actor the man legendary Jack Nicholson back again even though the role was small.
Witherspoon is Lisa a young beautiful girl who's passion is playing softball and even though she fails to make the USA team she still has plenty to live for. As Lisa is making love with a rich stud major league baseball player Mat(Owen Wilson)and she moves in with him still at times she feels that role is a little to demanding.
To add to the problem is George(Paul Rudd) a guy who has befriended Lisa yet he has a slew of his own problems as he's under federal investigation for money fraud and shady dealings, yet it was all done by his cocky and arrogant father Charles(well done and suited by legendary Jack Nicholson.
Thru it all love spats and phone tag is played with tears, and uncertain chats in this romantic comedy. It's something that is entertaining as it proves love and life is complex as we never know our love status day to day? Anyway it was good seeing America's sweetheart beauty Reese Witherspoon and it was nice again seeing the man legendary Jack still this picture though enjoyable from James L. Brooks left to many questions to be answered it left me wondering what if as it never really answered it's title "How Do You Know.
